and knowledge management software tools
|
User Groups, Links and Other Resource Sites
There are a variety of user discussion groups where you can glean wonderful
insights and wisdom from other users. As well, there are other sites that
provide links, reviews, and other help on data, information, and knowledge
management software.
User Groups:
- Zoot discussion forum - http://groups.yahoo.com
- a lot of very experienced writers, researchers, and other information
professionals use Zoot and contribute regular and valuable insights into
Zoot and other software tools on this forum.
- Ariadne discussion forum - http://groups.yahoo.com
- a relatively new discussion group run by, and for, Ariadne users and developers.
- Ultra
Recal user group - http://www.kinook.com/Forum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=22
Links and Other Resource Sites:
- Overview of Windows
Outliners - A great overview of tons of software tools, with comments
about experiences with them. A very good resource for narrowing down your
choices and cross-referencing experiences and opinions.
- The
KMconnection Knowledge Management Product Guide - a listing of software
tools and some basic information on each.
-
Inspiration 5.0 Review - a very nice 3rd party review of Inspiration
and what it can do, including definitions of such terms as mind map, concept
map, outlining, etc.
- powertoolsforum.com
- "The aim of the Power Tools Forum is to champion the best software.
" Not specifically for Knowledge Management software tools, but lots
of good user reviews and comments on KM software tools.
- sourceforge.net -
A site for open source (Linux) and software works-in-progress. Interesting
original tools include an outliner for the Palm OS - "Bean", and
several Apple / Macintosh outliner tools under development. For those looking
for an outliner or other knowledge management tools for Linux, this is a
good place to start looking.
- palmorganizer.tripod.com
- Wade Baggette's Palm OS resource site. As Wade is a KM tool power user
and contributor to this Primer, this a place to begin exploring how to use
your Palm or Palm compatible handheld to manage your information.
- Outliners.com
- "Archives from the golden age of outliners. " - Some useful
history and thoughts relating to outlining and the software that used to
do it. Outlining is now integrated in many KM software tools. This site
is Mac related as well as PC.
- Jay Tate's "Software
for Research (using Windows)". A very long single page with lots
of categorized details of knowledge management software. Comparisons of
features included. A good reference tool.
