The mine head at Morden Colliery Provincial Park. Located just south of the city is this little park commemorates the first concrete mine head in the province and one of the few still standing. Kilometres of abandoned mine shafts hundreds of feet below you trace the route as you hike along the old rail bed that took coal to the harbour at the ocean. The area around the mine head provides a fascinating look at one of the City's founding industries. 600x400 | 1024x768 | 300dpi+ (please contact me) | Location: Morden Colliery Provincial Park, Nanaimo, BC. |

NEW PHOTO! Two funny elements came together for this photo - people sitting on the snowy covered bench made it look very comfy with their bottoms. And sitting there eyeing the scene was this large, healthy seagull. 600x400 | 1024x768 | 300dpi+ (please contact me) | Location: Muffeo-Sutton Park, Nanaimo, BC. |

Winter ice lingers along the southern shores of Westwood Lake. Shaded from the near-equinox sun by Mount Benson, this side of the lake often develops a skin of ice. The lake is also at a higher elevation, which contributes to the lower temperatures. 600x400 | 1024x683 | 300dpi+ (please contact me) | Location: Westwood Lake Park, Nanaimo, BC. |
